In Year 2 we have been learning lots about our local community. Now we will be applying all our new skills and knowledge to compare life in Wales to a different country - India! We have come up with lots of excellent questions and things we would like to find out about India, which we will investigate through the course of our topic. We will taste and make some Indian food, explore and create beautiful Rangoli patterns and learn about India's biggest religion - Hinduism. As part of this we will be turning our classroom into a Mandir - a Hindu temple! 

Peacocks are a special animal in India, and we will be making some beautiful Peacock crafts. We will then be writing instructions in our English work, to help other people make their own Peacocks. We will also be exploring lots of stories from India, continuing to work through our Phase 5 Phonics and starting to develop our joined up handwriting. In Welsh we will be learning how to describe what we look like. 

We are mainly developing our skills in Multiplication and Division through our Maths work. We will also be learning about Weight and Capacity, and applying these measuring skills to make some delicious Mango Lassi - a popular Indian drink.
