Eco Warriors 2025-26
We are excited to welcome our new Eco-Council for this academic year! After a well-earned rest following a very busy year, our Eco-Warriors are back and ready for action. We were thrilled to achieve both our Bronze and Silver awards in recognition of our eco-warrior work, and this year we are setting our sights on the prestigious Green Flag Award. With a range of exciting mini projects ready to take root, our Eco-Council is eager to begin. Let us introduce you to this year’s Eco-Warriors! 🌿
Keep up to date with what we have been doing by visiting our Eco Warriors display board in the school hall or come back and visit our website page.
Eco Warriors 2024-25
This committee is made up of one representative from each class in the school (Blwyddyn 1-6) The Eco Warriors meet every Thursday after school to discuss ways to reduce, recycle, and protect our environment. Look at two of our projects we've been working on below.
Our mission:
We hope that the children of Penycae Primary care for our environment and become responsible and informed citizens. This year we are focused on creating a school action plan to help raise awareness of the green issues within the school.
Ysgol Penycae Primary Community Uniform Cupboard 2024-26
We are proud to share an ongoing Eco Warriors project at Ysgol Penycae – our Community Uniform Cupboard. This initiative provides a range of good-quality school uniform in various sizes to support our families and community. If you, or someone you know, needs school uniform, please contact the school mailbox and we will do what we can to help you find what you need – no questions asked. We also kindly encourage families to donate any uniform that no longer fits but is still in good condition, helping to keep it out of landfill and available for others. This project is an important part of our commitment to sustainability, supporting our community while reducing our carbon footprint.
Global Ocean Trawler Challenge 2024/25
We are really proud to announce that we have now become a global environmental partner with The British Ironwork Centre in Shropshire. We are really excited about our first eco-challenge, where we will compete against other schools to see who can fill a trawler net with the most crisp and confectionery packets. If we manage to achieve our goal, we will have the opportunity to loan 'Coral' the clown fish or one of her friends, completely FREE!
