Spring Term

We are delighted to welcome everyone back after the festive holidays and hope you had a happy and restful break. The Spring term is an exciting one, full of new learning and opportunities to explore our new topic: The Power of Change.

Throughout the first half of the term, we will be exploring change in nature. In the second half of the term, our learning will move on to changes in states of matter. In Science and Technology, we will be developing our programming skills using Scratch. Children will learn how to change and edit code to control their sprite. In English, we will focus on narrative writing. Pupils will explore traditional Welsh tales and use their creativity to change the endings. In Mathematics, we will continue to build confidence by developing our addition and subtraction skills, using a range of practical activities and problem-solving tasks. Supporting children’s well-being remains a priority, and we will continue to take part in a variety of activities designed to support emotional health, resilience, and teamwork.

There will be no Forest School this half term, but instead we are excited to begin our balcony gardening project, where children will learn about planting, caring for plants, and observing changes over time.

We are looking forward to a positive and engaging Spring term filled with learning, growth, and discovery! 🌱✨

Our class novel this term is The Land of Road by Jenny McLachlan.

We also have our residential trip to Pentrellyncymmer from Wednesday 25th - Friday 27th March.

Autumn Term

We are delighted to welcome everyone to the Autumn term and look forward to an exciting start to the school year. This term our topic is Food Glorious Food.

Throughout the term, we will be learning about food groups, what makes a balanced diet, and the choices we can make to be healthier. We will also explore personal hygiene, discussing how we can look after ourselves and stay healthy every day. In Humanities, we will follow the journey of food from farm to fork, discovering where our food comes from and how far it travels before it reaches our plates. In Expressive Arts, we will be studying the work of Andy Warhol and using his Pop Art style to create our own food-inspired artwork, full of bright colours and bold designs. In English, we will focus on descriptive writing by creating our own imaginative food menusIn Mathematics, we will be developing our understanding of place value, building strong foundations for future learning. Our Forest School sessions will give children the opportunity to learn basic fire safety and fire-starting skills. We will enjoy sharing hot chocolate and biscuits around the fire, playing games, and developing important teamwork and cooperation skills.

To finish the term, we are excited to present a food-themed Christmas concert, where the children will take part in The Great Elf Bake Off, discovering the best recipe for Christmas in a fun and festive performance.

We are looking forward to a busy, creative, and enjoyable Autumn term filled with learning, teamwork, and delicious ideas! 🎄🔥🍎
