Fireworks

We have been learning all about Bonfire Night - why we celebrate it, and how we can be safe around fireworks. We have also been creating some beautiful artwork based on fireworks. Here are some of the images created by the children using a variety of different resources.

Palm Oil Project

The children have really enjoyed being involved with Chester Zoo's "Palm Oil Project" this half term. We have had weekly visits from Marissa, who has been teaching us all about the rainforest and the animals that live there. Then we learned about the different products that contain palm oil, and about how the rainforest is being cut down in order to plant palm trees. The children were concerned to learn about all the animals who are losing their homes. Marissa then told us about all the ways that we can help these animals - most importantly by checking the label on our food to make sure any palm oil is "sustainable".

Sustainable Palm Oil Challenge - Palm Oil Conga

The children really enjoyed singing and dancing along to the Palm Oil Conga!

We were then lucky enough to be able to visit Marissa at the zoo and see all of the animals for ourselves. The children loved seeing all of the animals we have been learning about, and using clay to build nests for hornbills. When we came back to school, the children created posters to tell others about palm oil, and how we can help the rainforest animals.
